Eric Lee Patterson was born in Yazoo County, Mississippi, where he raised cattle on his family farm. In 2007, Eric graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi Law School. Eric served on the Mississippi Law Journal and the Moot Court Board. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Delta State University in 2001.

Eric joined the law firm of Blair, Bondurant & Patterson, P.A. in 2007 where he practiced oil and gas, real estate, and commercial law. As full service counsel to numerous oil and gas operators, Eric developed a multi-faceted practice, working as a litigator, transactional attorney, title attorney, and as corporate counsel. Eric joined Watson Jones PLLC in 2026.

Eric has litigated numerous cases in federal and state courtrooms throughout Mississippi, rendered title opinions and handled transactions covering thousands of surface and mineral acres, and practiced before administrative agencies, including the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board. Eric is admitted to practice in all Mississippi State Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts, and the Court of Federal Claims.
